it's true.
i, along with basically everyone else,
have an outrageous crush on fall.

what's not to adore?
warm clothes.
the colors.
the crisp air.
scary stories.
scary movies. (man do i get myself into a pickle every year with loving scary flicks
but then being so scared afterward that i lose sleep for days...and by days i mean weeks)
parties. (insert my dear friend noey and her annual off-the-hizzle party...i know, i'll never say that again, i swear)

and then there's the pumpkin patch.
we race around the haystack maze
then race to find the perfect pumpkins;
all the while talking in our british accents
as we chat about which pumpkin is the best.
(i may or may not secretly hope that someone there
thinks my accent is authentic)

i just love every bit of it.
but especially the two boys i get to share it with.

he just so happens to be over the moon
about school and his teachers
(which is such a relief because
he's pretty soft when it comes to
being away from me and dave)

while my little boy was off learning
and discovering and meeting new friends
i got to go to the gym.

all the while my extremely kind and thoughtful
husband was hard at work, supporting his family.

is this all too mushy to take in? deal with it...
because i'm feeling very much like the luckiest.

aside from our solid efforts
to swim or at least stay outside in the sun most days;
(hence my ghost town blog)
we've been going places.

dave the wave went to zions
and hiked (with some of the best people i know)the amazing subway...
but i can't talk about it because
i didn't get to go which i'm still
a little jelly belly about
(this means jealous...for future reference)

and since i'm only into talking about myself (naturally)
i WILL tell you about our camping trip to
strawberry reservoir.

every year a bunch of dave's friends go up
to catch crawdads and cook a huge manly crawdad feast...
and so on and so forth.

crawdads caught: 520 (may they rest in peace...in our stomachs)
crawdads eaten: 520 (2 by me...ewwwww! it actually wasn't bad but...don't tell anyone)

other highlights:
-meeting new friends.
-bennett finding a mud pit.
-bennett carrying on conversations
with sugar, the dog.
-eating smores and listening to
old crow medicine show around the campfire.
-peeing in the bushes...no no, wait. i HATE that.

fish taco now and again;

i used tilapia fillets
and lightly coated them
with a little flour, s & p, and cayenne pepper
and baked them at 350 for 40 minutes.

you'll also need (this is me assuming you want to make this too...see how i did that?):

cabbage.
ranch.
limes.
and corn tortillas (ours were from alcapulco...uh, yeah, they were good...real good).
and for the love of all that is good and holy
warm the tortillas on a skillet, we're not cavemen are we?

go now my sexy babies...and delight in the goodness of making these...and eating them.

i am easily influenced by the people that i adore.

dave can influence me to talk in different
accents when we both know full well we sound horrible.

cory can influence me into drinking
a diet coke at any hour of the day.

and because of my dear friend noey and my sister in law mary,
i now think i have beiber fever....whaaaat? (don't you dare judge me)

speaking of noey, she also influences me to cook.
she made pizza. so i made pizza.

she directed me to THIS dough recipe;
and it works like a charm every time.
(i say this because, has anyone else had a weird fear of using yeast?
no? so, i'm the only one then?)

brush the rolled out dough
with olive oil.

then sprinkle:
black pepper (do it. you will not be sorry.)
oregano.
parmesan cheese.

then pour on ranch dressing
as your sauce (this might be a good time to tell you
this isn't the most healthy thing in the world.

then cover with spinach
and chopped grilled chicken
and artichoke hearts...which i didn't have.
and finish off with mozzarella cheese.

mmmmmmmmmmm.

my boring old oatmeal
so that it kicks me in the face (that's a good thing) a little more.

all you need is (love):
old fashioned oatmeal (far superior to quick oats but they'll work too:) .
blueberries.
chopped almonds.
and a spot of honey (let's be honest, i'm a girl who knows what i like).

naturally i'm going to need all of you
to tell me what other wonderful things i can put in my oatmeal
so that i don't get bored and fall off the wagon...or is it on the wagon?

well, that title came from the fact
that we had leftover FRENCH bread (from kneaders...woot woot)
from the night before and so i made
real french toast for breakfast...in it's true form,
how french toast should be made...
or at least i had the bread part right.

i'd never made it with actual french bread;
so if some of you are eye rolling right now...
check yourself before you wreck yourself
(i'm pretty sure i'm not using that correctly)
it was an exciting moment, just give it to me.

at any rate, it was good. real good.

you'll need:
french bread (i feel like i've established this already...)

cinnamon (yes i spilled. it tastes better if you make an unnecessary mess, you haven't heard?)

i'm setting for myself...which

or at a drive thru window.

a homemade cookie is definitely

this month feels
like a blur.

however,
it's finally settling
down and we are
soaking up all
the christmas wonderfulness.

we're happily watching
all of our favorite
christmas movies and there's
one in particular i'm trying
to find from my childhood.
does anyone remember
the animated christmas movie
about a mouse and a clock???
anyway, merry christmas,
my babies...it's good to blog again.

my birthday....

it was in august.
my cutest girlfriends

we went to antelope island and
it is b e a u t i f u l, truly.

bennett got to be a cowboy.

it took a whole lot of lying
and the cooperation of my fantastic husband
and some equally fantastic boys
but i pulled off my first:

cat's pajamas day.

i told dave he had to take his
friend, scott, to the airport early
in the morning when in reality he
was picking him up to go golfing
(is dave a retired old man? no, but
he fancies himself a bit of the golf
and that's just fine with me)

then to brunch.
(is he a middle aged rich woman? no again,
but that's what you eat when you
play golf in the morning and it's not
quite lunch time when you finish...i don't make the rules)

to make a long fun surprise filled story short:

there were
random gifts.
random notes.
a rack-of-lamb dinner.
a chocolate cake.
and a late night movie at the gateway
with his brother, john, and
brother-in-law, andrew.

just wanted to show my appreciation
for the guy that takes such good care
of his family, and is a gentleman all the way.
father's day...and all those other days,
just simply aren't enough.

you, dave, are truly the cat's pajamas.

thank you thank you to scott, john and andrew for being my little accomplices.
